What is Histology?
Histology is the study of tissues and organ systems through the examination of the microanatomical organisation of tissues and organs and the relationship between the structure and function of the different types of cells and tissue types.

Welcome to the HUB Histology Laboratory website

A histology go-to site for medical students and post/graduate students in the health sciences.

The HUB Histology Laboratory provides histological support primarily to staff and students within the Department of Human Biology and upon request to other researchers both in the UCT community and other institutions.

Histological services include tissue processing, embedding, sectioning and staining of specimens utilising frozen and paraffin wax embedding techniques.
